The favorite competition of 'El Tigre'
The Colombian holds the record for goals scored in a season's UEFA Europa League with 17 goals last season
The final of the UEFA Europa League, Aviva stadium in Dublin, May 18, 2011, 21:30 hours. Radamel Falcao rises into the Irish sky to connect with spectacular header that ends in the net. It’s his goal number 17 in the competition and gives the title as the Porto, the Colombian striker, named man of the match, will play this year's tournament with the ‘rojiblancos’.
With Radamel Falcao, Atletico Madrid has secured the services of a man and a specialist in European competition. No one has scored as many goals as the former FC Porto player in the same edition of the UEFA Europa League. In the semi-final against Villarreal 2010/2011 the Colombian got five goals to snatch the record for the competition from the historic Jürgen Klinsmann. In addition to the 5 he scored against the team from Castellon, the new Atletico star got two hat tricks during the competition, against Rapid Vienna and Spartak Moscow.
This May, the final of the Europa League will be played in Bucharest. Both Atletico and Falcao have already marked the date in the calendar. First stop on Thursday at 21.05 at the Vicente Calderon against Celtic.
