Atlético de Madrid will host their first-ever Copa del Rey match in the Wanda Metropolitano. At 9:30 p.m. CET, the team will face Elche in the second leg of the Round of 32.
In Elche, the match ended 1-1 thanks to Thomas Partey’s goal in the first half. Our forwards had several chances to score, but didn’t have their shooting boots on.
However, in our last two matches the team has scored seven goals and are ready to keep it up in this Copa del Rey match.
Diego Pablo Simeone knows Elche won’t be an easy rival, but expects Atleti to advance to the next round of the Copa.
“In order to advance, we need to play well. In the away leg, we played a very good first half and had lots of chances, but in the second half they played well,” he said. “So I can’t imagine anything other than that for tomorrow’s match.”
