The Atlético family mourns the passing of Leivinha
A key figure in our 1977 league title triumph, Leivinha has passed away at the age of 76.
Atlético de Madrid is deeply saddened by the passing of our former player João Leiva Campos Filho, known as 'Leivinha', who left us this Thursday 4 June, at the age of 76.
Born in Novo Horizonte, Brazil, on 11 September 1949, the winger joined our club in 1975. He made his debut in Red & White on 28 September of that year against Salamanca at the Vicente Calderón, scoring a hat-trick on his first appearance. During his four seasons with the club, he made 93 appearances and scored 43 goals, helping Atlético secure the 1977 league title.
