The Atlético de Madrid Foundation and the LaLiga Foundation join forces against bullying
César Azpilicueta and our Foundation’s ambassador, Carla Pereyra, participated in a training session with students from the Federico García Lorca School in Boadilla del Monte.
Aiming to raise awareness among young people in the fight against bullying and the importance of its prevention, the Atlético de Madrid Foundation and the LaLiga Foundation held a training session on Thursday 10th October as part of the 'LaLiga vs Bullying' campaign with students from the Federico García Lorca School in Boadilla del Monte (Madrid). The event was attended by our player César Azpilicueta, our Foundation’s ambassador Carla Pereyra, LaLiga's Director of Brand and Strategy Ángel Fernández, and Olga de la Fuente, Director of the LaLiga Foundation.
Both institutions are joining forces against this bane, which presents terrible statistics, with Spain as the country with the third most cases of bullying. This troubling issue often leaves victims suffering in silence, afraid to speak out, and has worsened in recent years with the rise of social media and cyberbullying.
"Unfortunately, these episodes still happen, so the most important thing is to educate to prevent them, and if they do continue to happen, we need to find a solution as soon as possible. We must all support initiatives like those from the Atlético de Madrid Foundation and the LaLiga Foundation to completely eradicate school bullying," said César Azpilicueta.
"We need to stand by one another. Give strength to a friend and defend them. If someone is feeling bad, we need to step up and help," said Carla Pereyra, ambassador of our Foundation. The Atlético de Madrid Foundation has been running the ‘Defend Against Bullying’ campaign since 2022, raising awareness among students, parents, and educators in schools across the Madrid region, as well as with players and coaches from the Atlético Academy. This same guiding principle underpins the 'LaLiga vs Bullying' project, launched by LaLiga with the support of its member clubs.
