Axel Witsel will begin a new chapter next season and will leave the club upon expiry of his contract on Monday 30 June 2025.
The Belgian midfielder leaves our club after three seasons. After joining in the 2022/23 campaign, he went on to make 116 competitive appearances across LaLiga, Copa del Rey, Champions League, Spanish Super Cup, and Club World Cup, scoring three goals.
“Thank you for the trust, passion, and unconditional support. It has been an honour to wear this shirt, and I will always treasure very special memories of this chapter in my career,” Witsel said in his farewell message.
Atlético de Madrid thanks him for his commitment and hard work during his time at the club and wish him every success in his future endeavours both on and off the pitch.
