Atleti lost 3-2 at the Wanda Metropolitano on Tuesday in an epic clash. After going 2-0 down, Griezmann netted a brace to equalise before half-time. However, we ultimately lost after the Frenchman received a straight red card in the 52nd minute and Liverpool were awarded a penalty that Salah converted.

Although our team produced a strong and intense start, the visitors took the lead in the eighth minute. Salah struck from the edge of the box and Milner deflected the shot into the back of the net. Unfortunately, the English side continued to dominate and doubled their lead through Keita, who scored a fantastic volley. But Atleti didn’t give up, and the Wanda Metropolitano didn’t stop roaring. We kept pushing and pulled one back in the 21st minute. Griezmann found the back of the net after a fantastic play from Lemar. The goal boosted our confidence as we searched for the equaliser – which we almost found shortly thereafter. Griezmann was sent through on goal but was denied by Alisson... But the Frenchman doesn’t miss twice. João Félix produced an exceptional play and assisted our No. 8, who finished in style to beat the Brazilian keeper. The Portuguese magician and Lemar almost put us in front in the final minutes of the first half, but we reached half-time with the score at 2-2. It was a crazy, epic first half.

Atleti started the second half the same way as they ended the first – with intensity and attacking the Klopp’s defenders. Carrasco had a massive chance after being sent through on goal by an exceptional De Paul pass, but was denied by Alisson. Unfortunately, just seven minutes into the second half, the referee sent Griezmann off. It was a straight red card. After that, we held our ground and resisted – but also attacked at every possibility. In fact, we were close to scoring several times on the counter. However, the referee awarded Liverpool a penalty in the 76th minute, which Salah converted. Simeone reacted by bringing Llorente, Correa, Lodi and Suárez on for Hermoso, Joao, De Paul and Lemar. Atleti reacted immediately and were awarded a penalty after Giménez was brought down inside the box. However, after a VAR check, the referee decided against it. That didn’t stop us and we kept pushing – but we ultimately lost 3-2.
