Atleti earned a key late win on the road at Eibar on Thursday thanks to a Luis Suárez brace.
The game didn’t start as planned. The hosts were awarded a penalty 10’ in and their goalkeeper, Dmitrovic, converted from the spot. Correa was very close to equalising, but his shot struck the upper part of the crossbar. We kept pushing and eventually found the equaliser in the dying minutes of the first half – Suárez was the goalscorer.
Simeone brought Torreira and Joao Félix on for Lemar and Correa at half-time. The second half was a tough one as the hosts were well-organised and proved to be very tough to break down. We pushed throughout the second 45’ and Joao Félix almost scored in the dying minutes of the game. Dmitrovic pulled off a fantastic save and it looked like it was over… but Atleti never give up. Suárez was brought down inside the box and he converted from the penalty spot just before stoppage time to earn us three massive points on the road.
