Solid win against Rayo
Antoine Griezmann scored the winner in our first LaLiga match of the season at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Our first league match of the season at the Wanda Metropolitano ended in a solid win over Rayo Vallecano. Antoine Griezmann scored the only goal of the match.
The match started off intensely and both teams were disputing possession. Rayo defended deep and caused difficulties on the counter, but never had a concrete chance.
Juanfran had to be taken off in the 36th minute after suffering some muscular discomfort and was replaced by Thomas Partey, who played his 100th match for our club.
In the second half, Griezmann scored the only goal of the match in the 63rd minute. He was later replaced by Gelson Martins and received a standing ovation from the fans at the Wanda Metropolitano. Earlier, Koke came on for Ángel Correa.
Right in the final stretch of the match, Jan Oblak made a tremendous save and the match ended 1-0 and gave us our first win of the 2018/19 LaLiga season.
