Simeone: "Winning the Super Cup is a source of pride"
The Argentinian coach recognized the importance of winning the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid.
Diego Pablo Simeone was happy after winning the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid thanks to the early goal by Mario Mandžukić at the Vicente Calderón: "It’s a source of pride for our people, for our players and for our work".
Atlético’s coach recognized the importance of the brilliant start of the red and white team, which originated the goal that eventually would be worth the title: "The first 10-15 minutes were very good".
This Super Cup awakens our enthusiasm and life with enthusiasm makes us all much better
Simeone assessed the existing differences between the first leg and today’s match: "Both at the Bernabeu and here the team has worked well and that’s what’s given us the Super Cup".
The Argentinian, sent off during the game, apologized at the press conference after the match: "Apologies are offered when one makes a mistake that shouldn’t have been committed. I exaggerated the request so Juanfran could go in fast and the referee decided to take me out of the game".
Lastly, Simeone said, "The Super Cup is a title that many of us in the Club didn't have and it makes us very happy because it awakens our enthusiasm, and life with enthusiasm makes us all much better".
