Simeone: "We tried to give it our all"
Our coach, Arias and Saúl spoke following the defeat in Leverkusen.
Simeone shared his post-match reaction following Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen.
“We struggled at the beginning and their goal hurt us. We didn’t play well in the first half. In the second half we improved despite going 2-0 down. We tried to give it our all and had many chances to equalise. We need to work hard and improve on the pitch,” our coach said.
Arias admitted that our team knew it would be a difficult match.
“It was tough. We knew that our opponents were going to give it their all to win. We struggled in the first half, but we tried to win the match until the end. We have to keep our heads up and keep going," the Colombian said.
Saúl wasn’t happy with our team’s performance, but found time to thank the supporters who travelled to Germany.
“We’re conceding a lot in the first halves lately, both defensively and offensively. We need to be closer together on the pitch. Also, all of us have to analyse our own performances. It’s been a tough day, but I’d like to thank the many fans that came here,” the Spaniard said.
