Simeone: “We switched things at half-time and we were more dangerous as a result”
Our coach, Saúl and Savic spoke after Sunday’s game.
Simeone spoke following Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Espanyol.
“It was a tough and high intensity match. We knew they needed to win, and so did we. They were better in the first half, whereas the second looked more like the game we had imagined after we switched things at half-time. It was another rough game decided by mistakes and details,” our coach said.
Saúl, who scored our goal, spoke about the high intensity of the game.
“It was a hard-fought match on both ends of the pitch. We managed to equalise early in the second half and play in their half of the pitch. Both teams fought hard for every ball,” the goalscorer said.
Savic spoke about the difficulty of the match and the Champions League race.
“We tried to come back from behind and win the game, but we weren’t able to do so after Saúl’s goal. We knew that Espanyol needed to win, just like us. Many teams are fighting to qualify for the Champions League and we know it will be tough and we’ll need to fight until the end,” our defender said.
