Simeone: "We only care about playing a good match at a difficult field"
Diego Pablo Simeone, Atlético’s coach, said his team played well in the Cup and that the Eibar match will be complicated against a rival who has adapted well in the First Division.
Atlético’s coach commented that, "we’re thinking of the Eibar match. We only care about playing a good match at a difficult field, against a team who’ve played well in the First Division. There’s nothing else on my mind. Beyond their defensive rigour and tactics, which they have worked well, they are a team that have quality. On the wings, they have experience on the offensive side, they’re a team that play well with the ball and know how to play in small spaces. They have people who work well and know the field. I don't think the match is only about intensity."
On the great competition that exists in the backline because of the talent of the centre-backs, Simeone said he's happy because "we have the chance to count on guys from national teams, a 20-year-old one from Uruguay’s national team and the other, Miranda, with Brazil’s. We are very happy with the centre-backs that we have. We need to find the possibilities of each of them so that they can provide all the things they are providing for us. We believe in them. The truth is that with Godín, we possibly have the three best centre-backs of the League."
The coach made it clear that, "I always say that playing against the best makes you better in the future because they can take you to an extraordinarily demanding place. I think that except in the first half of the League match, we competed well in the other two until the first half of the other day. I appreciate what I have on the team and it will not change. It’s our essence and our identity. We've played this way for three years. If we want to continue to compete, our way is to stay on this line and this game."
