Simeone : "We come with the hope of coming through a difficult game"
Diego Pablo Simeone praised the solidarity and collective work of the players of Austria Vienna in the press conference. The Argentine envisages an encounter without spaces in which offensive mobility will determine the winner.
Simeone appeared at the press conference prior Atletico’s last workout before facing their third clash of the season in the Champions League against Austria Vienna. A team which the Argentine coach thinks will be very hard to beat thanks to the hard work and sacrifice of their players. "We have seen a very organised team, with some characteristics that we have, as the collective effort of everyone throughout the team make them trong. They have a good core, with tall people so I imagine a difficult game," he said.
Regarding the starting eleven for tomorrow, Diego Pablo is not sure which players will play and who will not. "I have a clear idea of the guys who are going to play but I have doubts about some lads. They know that those who play have to be 100% and understand."
Diego Costa has been showing his offensive powers at Athletic this season. Yet to make his debut in the Champions League due to suspension, he’s lookin to shake off an ankle injury. "he is in the group. Everyone apart from Leo has travelled so we'll see tomorrow who is fit to play. From here until tomorrow is a long time and we’ll see how he responds t the inflammation in his ankle,” he confimred.
Arda Turan will look to continue his good start to the Champions League with two goals in the first two games. "Arda is a decisive player, he is an important player in the creation and connection of our team. We decided to give him a break the other day after playing for Turkey." he said.
Finally, Diego Pablo Simeone predicted a role for David Villa in the team this season. "Villa lives for goals, he has spent his entire life scoring goals so I guess when we need it most is when we will get these goals. Scoring goals in the matches that really count is what you need from a striker like David," he concluded.
