THE TECHNICIAN DOES NOT WANT TO SLIP UP IN THE FIRST LEAGUE GAME AT THE CALDERON

Simeone: "We can not deviate from the game against the Rayo"

Diego Pablo Simeone appeared at a press conference before the league game against Rayo. The coach label the game as "hard" against a team that plays good football and has a lot of quality.

Simeone attended a press conference to discuss league game at the Vicente Calderon against Rayo Vallecano. Aware of the number of games the team will play this season, the Atletico coach did not rule out the possible variations in the starting lineup tomorrow. "There may be some variation. I spoke with them very clear at the start of preseason to not be surprised that a player go from being a started to sitting on the bench. Not all games are equal. We will pick the team using the players that we think will win the match. Fortunately the player involved know that there are lots of game so we will be changing the team throughout the season." he said.

Rayo Vallecano are a team known for playing good football based on possession of the ball. Despite having a title match next Wednesday, Simeone only has the league clash in mind. "The only thing that interests me now is the Rayo game. We live in the present and we can not deviate from the match tomorrow. We will find a very strong, very brave and enthusiasti team. They have a lot of speed on the wings and very good midfielders so we have to be very attentive and very focused."

Saul will play a special game tomorrow. In search of minutes, the international midfielder will play this season at Rayo Vallecano and Simeone expects him to pick up minutes to keep growing as a playe "I spoke to him before giving him the opportunity to go play for another team. He knows what I think. The goal is to get minutes in the best way. He is a major player for the future. We are excited that he can get minutes, because here, with the performance of Gabi, Tiago and Mario, I could have been difficult for him. Hopefully he can continue to develop as a player and next year he's going to bring all his quality to the team" he said.

Diego Costa has overcome his sore muscles and is fully able to play the league debut at the Vicente Calderon "I saw Diego going down stairs and he was great. He said to me “look how I am”. He is enthusiastic excited. For us he is very important for what he gives us. Tomorrow we will try to win the game with all our weapons."

Finally, the coach spoke about Leo Baptistão Atletico and his reunion with his former teammates "I do not think it's good for a player when he plays against his former team because he’s over keen to impress. Every game for Atletico is important. He will be up for it and will want to impress his teammates but I do think it’ll be any different than facing any other team," he said.
