Simeone: “The goal at the end of the first half changed the game”

Our coach, Koke and Correa shared their thoughts on Saturday’s defeat.

Simeone analysed Saturday’s game at the RCDE Stadium.

“We had several chances in the first half and they had a good attitude to try to hurt us. The goal at the end of the first half changed the game, and although we started well the second half with a good chance for Morata, Espanyol improved and deserved the win” the Argentine said.

Our coach also spoke about the chance to finish second in LaLiga.

“The Spanish league is fantastic, so we will try to finish in the best possible position. We need one more point to finish second and it’s on us to earn it,” Simeone said.

Koke also analysed Saturday’s match, while sharing his thoughts on the two remaining games of the season.

“We had our chances in the first half, but we didn’t take them. Espanyol were better in the second half. We have to try to win these last two LaLiga games like we did in the first half,” our midfielder said.

Correa was already thinking about the next game.

"It hurts to lose like this. We have to forget about this match and start thinking about the next one, which will be the last one at home," the Argentine said.
