The Argentinian, in the press conference following the match, wanted to stand out above all the harmony lived tonight at the Vicente Calderón between fans and a team devoted to the same cause, defend the red and white shirt. "I’ll highlight the atmosphere. The atmosphere is that we need for all the games at the Calderón. There is a perfect communion between what the team offered and what people lived at the field. You feel that there are a lot of us on the field, and today we felt that. Both the players and the fans were a block on the field", he opened up.

Atlético’s coach also stressed the great match his team played, one of the most complete in so far this season. "I think that this match, along with the Spanish Super Cup’s at home against Madrid, were the one where we had more continuity. The most complicated thing is maintaining continuity and handling the times of the game. And today, when Sevilla gave us space to play and fell back, we could play. And when we scored we fell back to have space to attack. That led us to handle the match at all times and that is the hardest thing in this game", he said.

Simeone also stressed the ability of his team to hurt his rival thanks to the continuity in the game. "It’s a positive aspect having rounded 90 very good minutes, most of all because of the work. The formation of the team was surprising, but when working accordingly to what is asked of the team, the guys respond. We hurt the rival in different ways and we were after an idea, and when that happens it’s easier to achieve it”, he stressed.

The journalists asked Atlético’s coach about one of the scorers of the night, the Mexican Raúl Jiménrez. "Raúl Jiménez is a guy who is going to provide many solutions. He scored the goal; he assisted Griezmann in the penalty. We need everyone, and of course, the more players we have to compete, the more possibilities we’re going to have. When he was taking the field, I told him to be mindful of Griezmann for the tactical approach. I was sure that he was going to score and I was right", he acknowledged.
