Simeone reaches 300 LaLiga games as Atleti manager
The Argentine has equalled Johan Cruyff as the fourth coach with the most league matches at the same club.
Diego Pablo Simeone reached his 300th LaLiga game as Atlético de Madrid manager during Saturday’s clash against Sevilla. Moreover, the Argentine equalled Joahn Cruyff as the fourth coach with the most league matches at the same club in Spain.
Only Miguel Muñoz (Real Madrid, 424), Luis Aragonés (Atlético de Madrid, 407) and John Benjamin Toshack (Real Sociedad, 322) remain ahead of our coach, yet all of them have an inferior win rate than the Argentine.
With 185 wins, 68 draws and 47 losses since his debut against Málaga on Jan. 7, 2012, Simeone has won 61.6% of his games at our club, compared to Miguel Muñoz’s 61%, Luis Aragonés’ 48%, Toshack’s 39% and Cruyff’s 60%.
Atleti won the 2013/14 LaLiga championship and have never finished below third spot in the seven full seasons that Simeone has managed. One Copa del Rey title, two Europa Leagues, two UEFA Super Cups and one Spanish Super Cup are the other trophies that the Argentine has won as our coach.
