Diego Pablo Simeone reached his 200th win as Atlético de Madrid’s coach during Saturday’s game against Celta.
The long list started almost nine years ago, on Jan. 15, 2012. That night, Atleti earned a 3-0 win over Villarreal at the Vicente Calderón in what was the Argentine’s second match in charge of our team. The manager had made his debut the previous week in Málaga.
Since then, Simeone has overseen 330 league games – winning 200, drawing 80 and losing 50. These numbers mean our coach has won 60.6% of his matches.
Atleti won the 2013/14 LaLiga championship and have never finished below third spot in the Argentine’s eight full seasons. At our club, Simeone has also won one Copa del Rey title, two Europa Leagues, two UEFA Super Cups and one Spanish Super Cup.
