Simeone reaches 1,000 matches as a manager
Over the course of a two-decade career, Simeone has recorded 563 wins, suffering just 212 defeats and has lifted 10 trophies.
Diego Pablo Simeone marked his 1,000th match as a professional manager this Saturday, 795 of which have come from the Rojiblancos dugout – including 550 in LaLiga.
In addition to his tally with Atleti, Simeone also managed 34 matches in charge of Racing across two spells (2006 and 2011), 61 with Estudiantes (2006/07), 45 with River Plate (2007/08), 47 with San Lorenzo (2009/10) and 18 with Catania (2010/11), the clubs he coached prior to taking charge of our team in December 2011.
Across these two decades, Simeone has recorded 563 victories, 225 draws and 212 defeats, with 1,641 goals scored and 895 conceded.
His honours include a Torneo Apertura with Estudiantes (2006), a Torneo Clausura with River Plate (2008) and, with our club, two LaLiga titles (2013/14 and 2020/21), one Copa del Rey (2012/13), one Spanish Super Cup (2014), two UEFA Europa League titles (2011/12 and 2017/18) and two UEFA Super Cups (2012 and 2018).
