Diego Pablo Simeone analysed the Atlético victory against Málaga at the Vicente Calderón (3-1): "It’s always important to win. We knew that they had been playing very well, they had won five straight matches and that made them a much more important rival."

Simeone emphasised the effectiveness shown by his team: "Scoring three goals is not easy. The team has and generates scoring situations and we found them in different ways: in set pieces, which we work very well, and in playing the game, because the second was a great goal."

Atlético’s coach valued the team's good response after conceding the goal, "In the second half, we didn’t start well. They weren’t hurting us, but we didn’t have the same working capacity of the first 45 minutes. We kept growing, improving, and reacted very well to their goal, and that's good for the team."
