THE COACH HIGHLIGHTED THE AMBITION OF THE TEAM WHO ALWAYS WANTED TO WIN

Simeone: "It's been a good first half of the season"

Diego Pablo Simeone analysed the victory of the Atlético side at the Vicente Calderón against Granada (2-0).

After the defeat of the team in Barcelona and the tie at the Bernabéu that allowed us to advance to the quarterfinals of the King's Cup, Simeone valued very positively the home victory against Grananda. "To win again in the League closing the fist round of play, does us well," he concluded.

Adding three points in the last round of the first half of the season consolidates the team in the third place of a very evenly-matched competition in its first half. "We’re seeing a very even championship, We need to continue with the same hope and intensity in each match because it's clear that second rounds of play are harder than the first ones," he said.

Torres and Mandzukic started together for the first time. For Simeone, the experiment was positive. "The rival was organised defensively, with a lot of manpower. We went from less to more. It's normal. It was the first time they played together. They are two strikers with different characteristics, but similar. I'm very happy," he resumed.

It wasn't an easy match. Until the 88th minute, the Andalusians were battling for the points. Despite all, Simeone pointed out that the victory was fair. "We had poor flow in the game. But I think there was always a team who wanted to win the match, and we ended up winning it," he concluded.
