ATLÉTICO’S COACH POINTED OUT THAT AFTER THE BAD START HE LIKED HIS TEAM

Simeone: "I'm proud of how my players worked and ran"

Diego Pablo Simeone appeared before the media in Mestalla‘s Press Room. He said that after the bad start, the team played a good match and he was happy with the work of the team.

The red and white coach pointed out that "the match lasted for 94 minutes, 90 minutes plus four for injury time. Valencia started very strong and very well. We made mistakes that we don’t tend to make and they took advantage to go ahead 3-0. Starting from there, we played a good match, where we played and worked. Valencia had no more chances to score. One in the second half in a counterattack. I'm very happy with the work of the team. After those 10 harmful minutes, I’m proud of how my players worked and ran. There are times when you lose, like today, even after giving everything on the field".

Regarding what happened, Simeone pointed out that "I always value the rival’s work, who did a very good job, they had 10 very good minutes and made us err. After that, we played a very good match. If we’d scored the penalty, perhaps, but it didn’t happen".

It meant that "this game is a demonstration that Atlético is a great team. If they have to lose they lose with dignity, with hierarchy, with work and playing and running. I already noticed that Valencia is a great team and they only have the League and the King’s Cup, without playing the Europa League or the Champions. With the team they have, they have to do very badly to be third or fourth. The have a very good team for my taste".
