THE ARGENTINE CONTINUES TO MAKE HISTORY

Simeone equals Luis Aragonés win tally as Atleti coach

Luis Aragonés earned 308 wins in 612 games, whereas Simeone has registered the same number of victories in 512 matches.

Simeone earned his 308th win as Atlético de Madrid coach at Villarreal on Sunday. The victory means the Argentine has equalled Luis Aragonés’ tally after 512 games, whereas the legendary Spanish coach did so in 612 matches.

Simeone became our manager in 2011, and so began one of the most successful eras in our club’s history. He has won seven titles so far: LaLiga (13/14), Copa del Rey (12/13), Europa League (11/12 and 17/18), Spanish Super Cup (2014) and UEFA Super Cup (2012 and 2018). The Argentine is currently the coach with the most consecutive seasons at the same LaLiga club – with a record of 308 wins, 120 draws and 84 defeats.

Under his guidance, Atleti have scored 849 goals and conceded 377. He has a win rate of 62% in LaLiga – the best in our club’s history ahead of Helenio Herrera (52.43%), Ricardo Zamora (51.83%), Luis Aragonés (47.67%) and Radomir Antic (45.14%).
