Simeone coached his 400th game as a Red & White manager in LaLiga
The Argentine coach reached this figure at the Martínez Valero since he made his debut as coach in the local competition on January 7, 2012. He is the third coach in history to achieve this record at the same club.
Diego Pablo Simeone coached his 400th LaLiga match as a coach on Wednesday against Elche Club de Fútbol. The Argentinian coach reached this figure at the helm of our team, becoming the third coach in history to do so with a single club after Luis Aragones (407), a red and white legend, and Miguel Muñoz (424).
Simeone made his coaching debut in LaLiga on 7 January 2012, when our team visited La Rosaleda to face Málaga. Since then, the Argentine has achieved 244 wins and 93 draws, having been defeated on just 63 occasions, averaging 68.75% of the points we have fought for during the 400 games in which Diego Pablo Simeone has occupied our bench in the local competition.
Simeone has won the league title twice as coach. The first, in the 2013/14 season, certified with a hard-fought match at the Camp Nou, and the second, last season, after a brilliant season against Real Valladolid, joining the championship he won as a red and white player in the historic 1995/96 campaign.
In the press conference prior to the match at the Martínez Valero, Simeone assured that "it excites me. It's not easy to have continuity in football. Thanks to the club, the players and the fans, who have always been close to us, we have been able to generate 10 beautiful years".
Congratulations, Simeone!
