Diego Pablo Simeone reached his 323rd LaLiga game as Atlético de Madrid manager during Tuesday’s clash against Celta. The Argentine has overtaken John Benjamin Toshack as the third coach with the most games managed at a single club in the history of the top-flight of Spanish football.
Only Miguel Muñoz (Real Madrid, 424) and Luis Aragonés (Atlético de Madrid, 407) remain ahead of our coach, yet both have an inferior win rate than the Argentine.
With 196 wins, 77 draws and 50 losses since his debut against Málaga on Jan. 7, 2012, Simeone has won 60.68% of his games at our club, compared to Miguel Muñoz’s 60.61%, Luis Aragonés’ 47.6% and Toshack’s 39.1%.
Atleti won the 2013/14 LaLiga championship and have never finished below third spot in Simeone’s seven full seasons. At our club, the Argentine has won one Copa del Rey title, two Europa Leagues, two UEFA Super Cups and one Spanish Super Cup.
