Enrique Cerezo announced the renewal of the coach in an event that took place at the VIP Lounge of the Vicente Calderón Stadium.
Diego Pablo Simeone and Atlético de Madrid have reached an agreement for the contract extension of the Argentinian coach with our Club for five more seasons. The signing of the contract that will tie Simeone to the Club until June of 2020 was announced this Tuesday during an event that took place in the VIP Lounge of the Vicente Calderón Stadium and was attended by Enrique Cerezo, Chairman of the Club; José Luis Pérez Caminero, Atlético's Sporting Manager; and Diego Pablo Simeone. In addition, at this event subsequent to the signing of the agreement, the members of the Club's Managing Board and the Area Directors were also present.
Simeone started his coaching stage as an Atlético in December of 2011. Since then and until today, under his management the team's bench has consolidated in the elite of European football and five titles have been won. The renewal of his contract until 2020 is the Club's bet to stay steadily on the path started in the past seasons.
Simeone wanted to highlight the evolution the Club has experienced since his arrival: “The Club is at a moment of absolute growth and I choose to be where I am because I'm convinced that the Club is going to keep growing. I see it strong, enthusiastic and people are more ready to participate. The Club grows and it's a time to keep growing together”.
