The second half of LaLiga is here as Atleti travel to the Basque Country to face Eibar on Saturday at 9 pm CET.
Our team reached midpoint ranked third place in the standings with 53 points, whereas Mendilibar’s men are 16th with 19 points.
Atleti kicked off 2020 with a 2-1 win over Levante and have earned three straight wins in LaLiga. On the other hand, Eibar lost 1-0 to Valencia and currently sit four points above the relegation zone.
Most of you will remember our epic comeback against the Basque side earlier this season. That night, João Félix, Vitolo and a last-minute strike from Thomas earned us a 3-2 win that sent the Wanda Metropolitano into delirium. It was our 11th LaLiga win against Eibar, against whom we’ve also drawn three times and lost once.
But if there’s someone who won’t forget that epic night in September, it’s Rodrigo Riquelme. Our Academy player made his official first team debut during that clash, almost one year after Borja Garcés played his first game – and scored a goal – at the Wanda Metropolitano against the same club.
