Saúl Ñíguez reaches 300 Atleti games
The midfielder, a product of our Academy, made his 300th appearance for our club during Tuesday’s Champions League fixture at Lokomotiv Moscow. The Spaniard made his debut in the Europa League on March 8, 2012 against Besiktas.
Saúl Ñíguez continues to make history at Atleti. The Spaniard, who this month will turn 26, made his 300th appearance for our club during Tuesday’s Champions League game against Lokomotiv Moscow.
The midfielder joined our club in 2008, when he was 13. He progressed through our youth sides until he made his first team debut on March 8, 2012 during a Europa League match against Besiktas. Saúl was 17 at the time and wore shirt number 48. He eventually became an official first team player in the 2014/15 season.
The Spaniard has made 197 Atleti appearances in LaLiga, 53 in the Champions League, 17 in the Europa League, 27 in the Copa del Rey, four in the Spanish Super Cup and one in the UEFA Super Cup. The midfielder has netted 41 goals and won five titles as a Red & White: the Europa League (twice), Copa del Rey, Spanish Super Cup and UEFA Super Cup.
