The first part of the Spanish Super Cup final began with a vibrant match, with two teams who knew each other well and which were responsible for opening the season looking for a favourable outcome to face on Friday the second and final chapter of this first national title. Diego Pablo Simeone decided to make Saul a starter player after the home-grown’s good work in the pre-season, which ended with the good match in the Carranza Trophy final.

The truth is that Saul did not disappoint Simeone, because he was a hardworking player, cheeky toward the rival goal and perfectly joined Atlético’s midfield. In fact, the young midfielder warned Casillas on three occasions. The first, with the intervention of the white goalkeeper, with a low drive saved on 15 minutes. The second, with a header that went wide on 42. Earlier, Mandžukić had warned Real Madrid with a shot saved by Casillas in the 13th and another on 32 that also ended in the goalkeeper’s hands.

Real Madrid scored the goal on a lucky play ten minutes away from the end of the match. James shot from inside the box and after hitting an Atlético defender, the ball ended up in the net. But not all had been said at the Bernabeu. A practised play carried put by Koke which Raúl García pushes to the net in the small box on minute 87. A goal that’s worth its weight in gold for next Friday’s the second leg match. The Calderón will decide the first title of the season.
