Quique Sánchez Flores: “This is a win earned for the fans”

“I like that this victory came with home-grown players”

Quique Sánchez Flores was pleased because his team had won and done a great job. These three important points broke a four-game losing streak in La Liga. The head coach acknowledged how crucial the win was. “Yeah, we had been looking for this. Before there had been matches in which we played well but didn’t win. Against Zargoza, we played well and got a good result. If you take away the last four minutes, we controlled the match pretty well. This is the first stone that has to lead us back to the path that we want to be on, towards the spots near the top.”

With respect to how he felt two home-grown players, Koke and Domínguez, played, the former making his debut in the starting line-up, he said that I really liked how Koke played; he was fantastic. Domínguez was solid and serious, as always. I like that this victory came with home-grown players. It’s a victory for the fans. And the best thing for them is that there were players on the pitch such as De Gea, Antonio López, Koke and Domínguez”.

Concerning the line-up sent out onto the pitch against Zaragoza, Quique Sánchez Flores highlighted that “these eleven are a sure bet to avoid doubt and confusion. The players have to note that there’s no time for hesitation. The gamble on Koke allowed us to play better and that’s great news. This Club has many young players, many players on loan, and it’s always big news when they perform well.”

He justified the switch of wingers in the midfield at the half by stating that he did so because “sincerely, I wanted to have Reyes close to me. But it also permitted Koke to help out Ujfalusi on his flank.”

To finish, he spoke about this week’s opponent. I hope that Zaragoza save themselves (from relegation). At certain points I see them like us, feeling the effects of anxiety, which is a big enemy. But with this level of fighting spirit and dedication, I’m sure they’ll move forward.”
