Quique S. Flores: 'Football gave us a better result than we deserved”
The coach assured that the victory will boost the group’s morale
Quique Sánchez Flores acknowledged that his team suffered quite a bit in the second half against Rosenborg, but he’ll stick with the positive part: the win. “We’ve had good and bad feelings this season. The start and the end of the match were good. We regained control of the match in the final minutes. I’ll stick with the result. We had our opponent under control in the first half, but after the re-start, we lost the ball too much and suffered,” he explained.
The manager of the ‘rojiblanco’ squad continued to speak about the encounter and said that “the team changed because we were losing the ball. We struggled without it. Then we put ourselves back together again with Tiago’s goal. We played against a strong and physical team. We’re not so physical and that’s why we suffered when we didn’t have the ball.”
Concerning the fairest result, Quique didn’t hesitate to assure that “perhaps a draw would have been more just, but we’re coming off playing as hard as we can in our league. We deserved it some times and didn’t get it. Football gave us a better result than we deserved.”
With respect to whether the victory in Norway would strengthen the team as it heads into the clash against Real Madrid, Quique gave his opinion that “the players will see that we’re almost qualified tomorrow and that will boost our confidence for Sunday’s match.
“We have no doubts about Raúl’s play. He does well in that part of the pitch. He plays well physically and technically, as does Mario Suárez, who also played a great game. Domínguez seems to be fine; he received an insignificant knock,” Quique Sánchez Flores concluded.
