Pre-season to kick off with Jesús Gil y Gil Memorial
Our team will face Numancia on Friday, July 23 at 7.00pm CET in what will be our first game of pre-season.
After beginning our pre-season on Friday, July 7 at the Wanda Atlético de Madrid Training Complex, the LaLiga champions will play our first friendly game on Friday, July 23 at 7.00pm CET. We will face Numancia at El Burgo de Osma in the Jesús Gil y Gil Memorial, which pays tribute to our president from 1987 to 2003. It will be the tournament’s eighth edition.
Moving on, and with the purpose of performing the next LaLiga season the best possible, our team will continue to alter trainings with friendly matches. The next one will be played against the Austrian champion, RB Salzsburg. The match will be held at the Red Bull Arena on July 28 at 7:45pm CET. Our team has previosuly played two times against the Austrian champion the past season and Simeone´s men won both times.
To wrap up the month, our team will visit Wolfsburg on July 31 to play a demanding match against the team that ended in fourth position in last Bundesliga edition. Back in 2014 preseason, we had also played against them in a match that ended up 1-5 with the red and white victory.
Furthermore, we will confront Cadiz in another friendly game for the title of Trofeo Ramón de Carranaza. The match will be played August 4 at 8:00pm CET. It is of no surprise that our team is one of the all time favorites since we have won the competition in ten different ocassions (1968, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1991, 1995, 1997, 2003, 2014 and 2015).
