Pochettino: “We deserved much more than the overal result of the qualifying tie'
“Agüero's goal was very tough to digest'
Mauricio Pochettino, manager of Espanyol, appeared before the press to analyse the match. “Over the course of the 180 minutes we deserved much more than what was seen by the final result. We’re satisfied with what we’ve shown as a team but also sad because the qualifying tie went to Atlético de Madrid.”
The head coach continued with his speech, saying that “we came out much better than them, creating lots of scoring chances and controlling the match. Agüero’s goal was very tough to digest, but it’s something that we accepted because our football is always risky and the danger is always latent. But the team gave its all and I’m very proud of my players,” he asserted.
Pochettino wants to turn the page and focus on the positive: “The team is in good spirits and looking forward to Sunday’s match. The draw is useful because the mood is different than when you lose. We have to analyse the game well and keep working; we have a young team and play offensive and collaborative football.”
