The ‘rojiblanco’ defender enjoyed his home, but with his national team

Atlético de Madrid player Luis Amaranto Perea enjoyed a very special match on Saturday. His Colombian National Team played an international friendly against Ecuador, and a spectacle of colours invaded the stands of Estadio Vicente Calderón. It was a very attractive and emotional match for the ‘rojiblanco’ defender, who was playing at his home stadium, but this time with the colours of Colombia. In fact, the side in yellow came away with the victory in Madrid.

Numerous fans from both countries who live in Spain’s capital attended the contest, as they the match turned into a social and football celebration. The proximity of the Copa América saw both managers send out their best players in preparation for this July’s competition in Argentina.

Colombia had already left a good taste in their supporter’s Motus with the friendly against Spain in February at the Santiago Bernabéu and wanted to repeat at the ‘rojiblanco’ stadium against the Ecuador national team. Both squad gave their all, and although Colombia set the pace of the encounter in the first half, Ecuador tried not to get pushed back in their area and set out to threaten the goal defended by Domínguez. At the half-hour mark, Perea’s squad took the lead on a free kick from outside the area as Fredy Guarín’s strike found the back of the net.

In the second half, Ecuador looked for the equalizer, but the Colombian defence, led by Perea, who played the full 90 minutes, kept them in check. Falçao García increased Colombia’s lead in the 72nd minute. With this victory, Colombia receives a nice boost in front of their fans as they get ready for the upcoming Copa América.
