Our friendly against VfB Stuttgart ends in a draw
Joaquín scored our only goal in the second half and Thomas Lemar and Gelson Martins made their unofficial debuts for our club.
Our third preseason friendly of the 2018/19 season ended in a 1-1 draw. Joaquín scored our only goal in the 59th minute. The atmosphere at the Mercedes-Benz Arena was a party to celebrate VfB's 125th anniversary.
The game started off very lively at the Mercedes-Benz Arena and our team had general control over the match. Gelson Martins and Thomas Lemar made their unofficial debuts for our club and played 45 minutes. Both players were very active and Lemar had a chance that went off the post in the 20th minute. Koke and Saúl also played 45 minutes in their first preseason match thus far.
In the second half, Simeone made several changes and introduced Carlos Isaac, Mikel, Joaquín, Víctor Mollejo and Borja. Later on, Solano and Aitor also came on.
VfB Stuttgart scored the first goal of the afternoon via a penalty, but our side responded immediately with a great Joaquín goal from outside the box. In the 71st minute, the local team were awarded another penalty, but the shot hit the crossbar. Finally, the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
