Marseille provides the final stop on our pre-season journey
This Friday, kick-off is at 17:30 CEST at the CEPAC Vélodrome as we play our final warm-up fixture before the start of the LaLiga season.
Our pre-season campaign reaches its final stage ahead of the new LaLiga season, with the CEPAC Vélodrome hosting our last test before competitive football returns. Kick-off is at 17:30 CEST this Friday as we take on Olympique de Marseille, who will also conclude their preparations for the new Ligue 1 campaign.
The French side have played six friendlies so far this summer, recording five victories – against Yamoussoukro, Nîmes, Al-Shahania and Athletic Club – and just one defeat, against Nice. They have also strengthened their squad with three notable additions: Argentine centre-back Facundo Medina, right midfielder Timothy Weah and left winger Hamed Traoré.
Meanwhile, our side will be looking to end pre-season in the same way it began: with a victory. Diego Simeone's men opened their preparations with a 4-1 win over Getafe before taking on Manchester United and Manchester City in two closely contested matches, both of which ended in narrow defeats (2-1 and 3-1). Those fixtures nevertheless provided valuable opportunities to continue building fitness, fine-tune the team's performances and further integrate our new signings alongside a number of talented players from the club's Academy. In fact, two Academy players made their mark by finding the net in those matches, with Arnau Ortiz scoring against both Getafe and Manchester United, while Jorge Domínguez was on target against Manchester City.
Following this final pre-season outing, attention will turn to our LaLiga opener against Málaga on Wednesday 19 August at 21:00 CEST at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.
