New faces in the victory against Numancia

The first game of the season saw debuts for Martin Demichelis, Leo Baptistão, Luis Milla, Nacho and Ivan Monsalve Alejo. Diego Pablo Simeone introduced the new faces in to the team responding to the demands of the coaching staff.

Martin Demichelis played from the start forming the backbone of the defense with Miranda. The Argentina international completed a very serious first half. The other defender was Nacho Monsalve who debut today. The 19 year old center back came on in the second half and defended with Cabrera at the heart of the Atletico defence.

Luis Milla replaced Gabi at the start of the second half to play his first minutes with the first team. The Stadium at Burgo de Osma also witnessed the debut of Leo Baptistão who capped a superb debut with a goal while Ivan Alejo enjoyed his first 15 minutes in the first team.
