Mourinho: 'We played better in the first half than in the second'
“We’ll have a tough match at the Calderón”
The manager of Real Madrid, José Mourinho, highlighted after the win over Atlético de Madrid that 'we played better in the first half than in the second. The fact is that we didn’t get stuck into the match well. We knew that we could score and win without making many changes and by gaining continuity. We wanted to make it to the return leg ahead on the scoreboard. I think that 2-1 would have been a good result, but then we scored another goal and could have added to that. We have a lead, but we know that the Vicente Calderón is a tough place to play.”
The head coach of Madrid praised the referee, although he affirmed that he made two mistakes. “There was an offside on Atlético’s goal and then an almost goal after Kun controlled with his hand. Those are two plays on which the linesmen were wrong. He’s a very good official. You can only have matches like this when you have referees like him: dynamic and open. He’s very good and I liked him a lot. Give me this official every Sunday.”
