MATCH RECAP

Morata leads Atleti to big win at demanding Anoeta

Our team earned an important away win over Real Sociedad thanks to a double from Morata.

Atleti earned an important 2-0 away win over Real Sociedad on Sunday thanks to two Morata goals.

The match began with high intensity from both sides. Anoeta is one of Spain's toughest stadiums to play at, and this game would be no exception. Both teams fought for the ball in the first few minutes. But as the game progressed, our team started to get closer to Rulli's goal. Morata had a couple of good chances at around the 15-minute mark. At first he almost took the ball after some confusion from the keeper and a defender, and shortly thereafter he connected with Koke's cross, but Rulli made a fine save to deny him.

However, the Spaniard found the back of the net as we reached the first half hour. Our number 22 headed it home following a corner. Godín made contact just before and got the assist. Our team had taken the lead, but we weren't going to stop there. Just three minutes later, Morata once again found the back of the net with a header. The Spaniard has hit the ground running at our club, and this time he was there once again to give us the two-goal lead with which we reached half-time.

Filipe Luis was substituted at the break as a precaution due to muscle pain in his leg. Arias came on for the Brazilian. Simeone made his second change just before the hour mark, as Lemar made way for Thomas Partey. A few minutes later, Koke was sent off after the referee showed him the second yellow card. Our team was down to ten men with almost 30 minutes remaining. Anoeta got behind the home team as a consequence, but Atleti regrouped and managed to hold off Real Sociedad's attempts.

With 20 minutes remaining Simeone made his last substitution, as the goalscorer Morata made way for Correa. Oblak made a great save later on to deny Imanol Alguacil's side, and our team saw out the game to earn the three points at the demanding Anoeta.
