Miranda: "We want to finish as high as possible in the table"
Miranda went through the mixed zone after the goalless draw against Deportivo La Coruna. After certifying the Champions League for next year, the Brazilian made it clear that the group wants to win every game and then finish with a victory in the Cup of His Majesty the King.
Atletico Madrid picked up the point needed to mathematically ensure their participation in the Champions League next year. Miranda reflected on the feeling in the dressing room. "We are pleased by the fact we’ve qualified for the Champions League. It is done and now we will continue working to finish in a better position."
Asked about referee Ayza Gámez, who disallowed a goal for offside Miranda, the Brazilian defender wanted to make clear that he is not the right person to discuss refereeing decisions "I’m probably not the ideal person to discuss the referee. I think they are hit and miss but this is football," he said.
The Atletico player praised Thibaut Courtois for his season in which he has become the goalkeeper who has kept most clean sheet away from home for more minutes. "Thibaut is doing very well, we contribute in the defence, but we know we have a great goalkeeper," he said.
There are four games and one Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid and for Miranda, nothing will distract them in the coming games. The centre defender said the team will fight to the end to win every game. "We will fight until the end, until the last game to be as high as possible in the standings. I think the most important is the next game. We have a final that is important and you have to win but we want to ensure third place and if possible, get second place".
