Miguel Ángel Gil Marín: "It's disgusting, that scum has no place in football"
Our CEO trusts that those responsible will pay for what happened and asks the world of football to unite against the scourge of violence.
Miguel Angel Gil Marin, CEO of Club Atlético de Madrid, wanted to express his strongest condemn for the incidents that took place in Madrid Rio before the game against Deportivo. "It's disgusting, that scum has no place in football. I just hope that they identify those responsible so they can’t repeat actions as regrettable as these."
Gil Marín believes that these serious incidents have nothing to do with sport: "This is a social issue linked to political thoughts because hooligans of Rayo are coupled with hooligans the Deportivo to fight with hooligans of Atlético de Madrid. That is not football, it has nothing to do with it. It is a disgrace and it is regrettable. We will listen to the police and the Administration and assess what measures can be taken beyond those which have already been taken, which are many."
Our CEO hopes that those responsible be detained: "If someone is able to identify who did it, please come forward, because it is very important that those responsible end up in jail. On the other hand, everyone in football should unite to try to avoid repeating these misfortunes."
