Mario Suárez rejoins work with the rest of his teammates

The ‘rojiblancos’ train at Cerro del Espino

Atlético de Madrid continued to get ready for this Saturday’s important match against Sevilla on Wednesday morning 23 February with an hour-and-a-half training session at the Majadahonda Sports Complex under the orders of Quique Sánchez Flores and his coaching staff. The positive news was that Mario Suárez returned to work with the rest of his teammates after getting better from the fever he had suffered the past couple of days. The negative news was the injury that forced Diego Forlán to retire from the session early after suffering a left ankle sprain during one of the drills.

The Atleti first squad began the practice with the usual warm-up and a possession drill in two groups, with support being provided on the wings and finishing. After this, they carried out technical-tactical drills. To finish, they played a practice match under the attentive gaze of their head coach.

Central midfielder Elías was not at training as he is still in Brazil with the Club’s permission finalizing the pertinent procedures to obtain his work permit. Taking part in the session were Atlético de Madrid B players Noguera, Sergio Marcos, Iago and Batres.
