Mario Suárez: “We want Sunday to get here so we can earn three more points”

The home grown player appeared optimistic at the signing of a partnership

Mario Suárez, Atlético de Madrid player, attended the signing act of the collaborative agreement between the AFE and the Women’s 11 Football Clubs Association on Thursday 7 April. The ‘rojiblanco’ academy product didn’t hesitate to analyze the situation in which Atlético finds itself with eight weeks left in the season.

“Our main goal was Champions League, but now it seems far away, but as long as there’s a chance we’re not going to give up on anything. We’re going to fight for all the points left in play and we’ll see what happens,” he stated. Furthermore, in reference to the words of the Club’s President, Enrique Cerezo, on Wednesday, in which he assured that they had to win all the points left at stake, Mario agreed, asserting that they’re going for the “24 points out of the 24 left. We’ve already said that we’re going to go match-to-match and trying to earn the points in threes if we can,” he added.

The central midfielder returned to the club that raised him this season and confessed that he’s “having a tough year” because of injuries, but that he feels much better now. “I still have some problems, but I’m better and as I get more playing time I’m starting to feel better physically, but things don’t just have to go well for me, they have to go well for the team. Now we’re playing well and looking forward to Sunday so we can earn three more points,” he assured.

Concerning this Sunday’s match-up against Real Sociedad, Mario Suárez emphasized that “they’re a tough team that plays really well; they made things really hard for us at Anoeta, but we’ll be playing in front of our fans, we’re coming off a good result away from home and we have confidence in ourselves.”
