Marcelino: “Atlético are a very tough opponent”
“They have very good individual players”
Marcelino García Toral, manager of Racing de Santander, highlighted before the visit of Atlético de Madrid to El Sardinero, that “if we come out with the idea of tying then we’ll surely lose.”
“We have to try and win to once and for all ensure that we stay in the top flight. Playing in Europe is impossible. I look below us, as looking up hasn’t occurred to me for a while. If we’re in the 80th minute and all level and it would be better for us to save what we have than go on an adventure,” he admitted.
For Marcelino, Atlético de Madrid are a “truly tough opponent, with very good individual players. They’re a well-organized team with one of the best coaches in the Spanish League.”
Concerning the blow-out loss suffered by Atlético to Malaga, the Racing manager believes that “football is detail. Atlético can take the lead, then concede two goals and, from then on, the match becomes uphill. Malaga is undoubtedly the team near the bottom with the greatest potential.”
