Manzano: 'We missed the goal'
Atletico manager believes that team is looking good and the result should not overshadow the team's performance
Gregorio Manzano appeared before the press after the narrow defeat at the Mestalla with satisfaction that the team played well, despite the outcome, and remained faithful to his touch football, but also the disappointment of defeat. 'Looking at the game as a whole, I think we should not have left the Mestalla without a point. Overall we worked pretty well,' said the Atletico coach.
Manzano said that the turning point of the match came immediately before the goal by Soldado when first Gabi and then Falcao couldn't break the deadlook. 'Valencia took their chance to score but some good opportunities. It was a balanced game with two great teams.'
Nevertheless, Manzano wanted to praise the courage and strength his team showed in Valencia. 'Today Atletico Madrid came to the Mestalla and played to win the game, we have not given up anything. We have shown the line to follow. Sometimes we confuse results and they obscure what has been seen in the field. We leave with a defeat, but with a good taste,' he said.
