Manuel Preciado: “We’re capable of beating any opponent”
“If Atlético are tired, we’re going to try and take advantage of it”
Manuel Preciado, manager of Sporting, appeared confident in his squad after the win over Hércules last weekend. “We have to believe that we’re capable of winning. The victory over Hércules may have served as a self-affirmation. You change when you win after such a long time without having done so. You can note freshness, but we’ve won one day, not six.”
With respect to Atlético de Madrid, he said that “we’re capable of beating almost any opponent. There will surely be some exception, but practically all of them, including Atlético. I don’t know if they’ll be affected by the absences of Agüero and Reyes. But logic says that three fixtures in one week might make your body and mind tired. Thursday’s result will hurt them and it’s possible that they’re a bit down after the loss, but we’re going to play against a good side and, even though they have players out, those who are behind them are useful. If Atlético are a bit tired, we’re going to try to take advantage of it.”
