Mandzukic and Griezmann, lethal connection

Our team recovered the road to victory after beating Almeria thanks to goals from Mandzukic and Griezmann. With this victory, the red and white squad reaches 53 points.

The ball began to roll in the Vicente Calderón with the excited players of Diego Pablo Simeone. The overwhelming start of the home team came close to resulting in a goal thanks to a great shot from Griezmann that went wide by very little. However, the goal came just a few minutes later through Mandzukic, who converted a penalty called by Mateu Lahoz from a ball floated into the box. It was in the 13th minute and just seven later, the Croatian striker assisted Griezmann so the French could score the second one after to a great counterattack. The pair formed by numbers 7 and 9 would do their thing on 29 minutes, when a cross from Arda Turan was headed by Mandzukic so Griezmann could score the third of the match and the second of his particular account.

After the interval, Almeria looked for a goal to get back into the match with a cross shot of Corona that went wide. However, the red and whites kept a stiff upper lip to maintain the distance with which they had reached the half time. As minutes went by, the Atléticos slowly took control of the fixture. Raúl García, on 78’, crossed in excess with his left foot from inside the box and on 89’, Cuesta saved with a good hand a goal by Saul from the edge of the box.
