Atleti are to face the English side in the Champions League last 16.
The English club were founded as Newton Heath LYR Football Club in 1878 and changed their name to Manchester United in 1902. They’re one of Europe’s biggest clubs and have won more titles than any other English side – including 20 league trophies, 12 FA Cups, five League Cups, 21 Community Shields, three European Cups, one Europa League, one UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, one UEFA Super Cup and one Intercontinental Cup.
Since 1910, they play their home games at Old Trafford. The stadium holds up to 76,000 spectators – making it the biggest in the Premier League. Nicknamed “The Theatre of Dreams”, it has hosted the biggest events in world football, such as World Cup games and Champions League finals.
Manchester United’s current coach is Ralf Rangnick, who recently replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjær. They have world class players in every position, such as former Atleti goalkeeper David De Gea, defenders Varane, Maguire and Telles, midfielders Bruno Fernandes and Pogba, and strikers Sancho, Cristiano Ronaldo and Cavani.
