Luis Suárez, honored at the Wanda Metropolitano
The Uruguayan striker, who said goodbye to our fans in the last match at the Wanda Metropolitano against Sevilla, received an affectionate tribute from the club's employees in an act that was presided over by Enrique Cerezo.
Luis Suárez, who arrived at Atleti in September 2020, says goodbye to our club after two seasons defending the Red & White shirt. The Uruguayan striker has played 83 games as an Atleti player, in which he has scored 34 official goals, many of them of great importance as in the match against Osasuna at the Wanda Metropolitano and in Valladolid to give us the league title of the 2020-21 season. Goals that are living history of our club and that are kept with great affection in the retina of the entire Red & White family.
Suárez, who was already able to say goodbye to the fans at the Wanda Metropolitano in the match against Sevilla, received an emotional tribute at the Wanda Metropolitano this Tuesday afternoon, June 7, in a ceremony that was attended by our president, Enrique Cerezo, his family and club employees.
After the event, the Uruguayan striker visited Atleti Territory and unveiled and signed his figure on the main mural, designed by the artist Inocuo, which all Red & White fans will be able to visit and take pictures of, remembering that, upon his arrival, the Uruguayan said; "Leave me a space here, I want to make history".
In this way, the promise made by Suárez when he signed for Atleti, that of being a legendary striker who has left his mark on our history, is fulfilled.
See you soon, Suárez!
