Lucas Torreira is a Red & White
The Uruguayan has joined Atlético de Madrid on loan from Arsenal. The midfielder will play at the Wanda Metropolitano until the end of the 2020/21 season.
Atlético de Madrid and Arsenal have reached an agreement over the loan of Lucas Torreira. The Uruguayan will play at our club until the end of the 2020/21 season.
The midfielder was born in Fray Bentos, Uruguay on Feb. 11, 1996. He joined the youth teams of Italian club Pescara and soon made his first team debut. The Uruguayan moved to Sampdoria in the 2016/17 season, where he went on to play 74 games and netted four goals. His performances earned him a move to Arsenal in the 2018/19 season. During his two seasons in London, he made 89 appearances, scoring four times and providing six assists. He also won the FA Cup and the Community Shield.
Despite his young age, he is a regular for the Uruguay national team, for which he has earned 23 caps. He made his international debut on March 23, 2018 against the Czech Republic and played in the World Cup later that year. He was involved in his country’s five games.
With Torreira’s arrival, we add a hard-working and talented footballer to our midfield.
Welcome, Lucas!
